Couplet







DEFINITION :  A couplet is a pair of lines that are similar to each other.


EXAMPLE

              Poetry

                    Riddles and rhymes poetry is half thought
                   One line is a thousand and
                   Ten thousand are a couplet

                    Poetry is water through the fossett
                    Or better descibed
                     Poetry is like the sampling of wine

                     Poetry is the widow's web
                    And the freeing of prey
                   The understanding of yesterday
                    The profesying of tomorrow's play

                  For every poet a thousand poems
                 For every poem a thousand poets


SIGNIFICANCE :  A couplet is important in a poem because many couplets rhyme, which
                         makes it easier for the readers to understand the poem.
